Verses: Isaiah 37 & 38| Philippians 3| 1 Kings 19:20-21
Topic: TAKE OFF THE BARRIER
Text: “And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat, Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.” -1 Kings 19 :20 – 21.
Elijah made sure he had nothing left to take pride in. He had burnt the bridge that took him across the river so there was no going back for him. He stripped himself of what could give him an ego-trip and, his dependence on God was total. From the tower of riches, he brought himself down to serve. Money could not stand between him and the ministry because he had overcome it from the word go.
“What is standing between you and your service to God?”
God demands whole hearted service. He is either “God of All” or “not at all” to you. God cannot share His glory with any form of distraction.
Listen, it was from height that Elisha brought himself down to pour water on the hands of Elijah. That was the secret of Elisha’s anointing for exploits. He overcame everything that could stop him from true service and everything that could cause the surge of pride to follow Elijah in complete service.
What do you need to give up for your service to be complete?
My Father, My Father, as I pray, I receive grace for total submission in Jesus name.
